Red Cross Babysitting Course video (Please keep in mind this is a video for the Red Cross on-line course, but it covers the same info and is a great intro)
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
Fillmore Central School has teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer the well-known Babysitter's Training course. The course will be offered in school as part of the Home and Careers Curriculum. Normally, there is an $80 fee, but the school is offering the course to current 6th grade students who are enrolled in Family and Consumer Sciences (Home and Careers) FREE OF CHARGE. Amy Chiu, the current Home and Careers teacher, is a certified trainer in the American Red Cross Babysitter's Training course. Upon successful completion of the Red Cross Babysitter's Training course, students will receive a Red Cross certificate indicating their attendance at Babysitter's Training.
This course includes the information and skills necessary to give students safe and responsible care for children and infants. This training will help students develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and first aid.
Successful course completion requires participation in all classroom activities and skill sessions. SHOULD A STUDENT BE ABSENT FROM ANY TRAINING, THEY MUST MAKE UP THE MATERIAL AFTER SCHOOL OR DURING A PREARRANGED LUNCH SESSION OR THEY CANNOT RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE!
There is a babysitter's handbook available for $15.00. We do not make a profit on these books, this is the cost. The book IS NOT REQUIRED but is suggested.
PLEASE BE SURE TO THANK A SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR IF YOU SEE THEM FOR GRACIOUSLY COVERING THIS COST!!!!
If you have any questions, please contact Amy Chiu at FCS at 585-567-2251.
