Mrs. Tucker
I graduated from Fillmore Central School in 2002 and earned my BA in English from Keuka College in 2006. I returned to the Fillmore area in 2010. In December of 2019 I earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching, and in January of 2020 I began teaching at Fillmore. I love writing and I love reading and I can't wait to share those things with students. I'm grateful to be back at Fillmore and to teach in a school where I myself learned so much. Use the tabs on the side to learn more about the classes I teach: English 9, English 10, and Gaming and Literature.

In English 9 we focus on building writing routines, recognizing theme in a variety of genres, understanding the tools authors use to create effects such as suspense, and the ways that literature intersects with history and culture. We read novels, short-fiction, poetry, personal essays, and informational articles. View the English 9 syllabus to see more specific information.

In english 10 we focus on reading diverse voices across a variety of genres including the introduction of graphic novels into our reading repitoire. We also begin to explore our own creative output. We begin making connections between literature and philosophy, and continue to learn about the intersection of literature and history. See the English 10 syllabus for more detail about this course.

*This elective is brand-new and may not always be available.*
In this half-year class, students learn about the elements of literature through fantasy and science-fiction novels, short-stories, and poems. We will also be drawing on the concepts found in many video games and table-top character-based adventure games, such as character development, plot structure, symbolism, and theme. Students will engage with the elements of story-telling as their own created character moves through the course overcoming obstacles and completing tasks to "win the game" (pass the class).
