• Earth Science

Earth Science studies the interactions of the biosphere, geosphere (refered to as the lithosphere in this course), hydrosphere, and atmosphere as well as how planet Earth fits into the universe.  Students will work both collaboratively and individually on labs, in and out of class assignments, and projects.  Tests will be completed on an individual basis.  Student's grades are calculated on a (Points Earned) / (Points Possible) basis.  The usual point breakdown for assignments is as follows:

    Lab Reports:  20 points

Homework and Classwork Assignments:  10 points

    Tests and Projects:  100 points

    Astronomy

Astronomy studies objects and phenomenon found beyond planet Earth.  A large part of the course is spent on topics such as stellar evolution, solar system objects and formation, galaxies, and human space exploration.  Students will work both collaboratively and individually on class assignments and projects.  Tests will be completed on an individual basis.  Student's grades are calculated on a (Points Earned) / (Points Possible) basis.  The usual point breakdown for assignments is as follows:

    Classwork Assignments:  25 points

    Tests and Projects:  100 points

    Physics

One of our core objectives in a course like Physics is to make sure we are preparing students who are college-ready.  One of the key aspects of preparing students for college-level science courses is developing strong scientific writing habits.  As a result, writing is heavily emphasized in most assignments and labs completed in this course.  Students' grades are calculated on a (Points Earned) / (Points Possible) basis.  The usual point breakdown for assignments is as follows:

    Lab Write-ups: 20 points

    Homework Assignments: 10 points

    Tests and Projects: 100 points
