Degrees and Certifications:
I grew up in a large family and attended Fillmore Central School while playing three sports, being heavily involved in extra-curriculars, volunteering in elementary classrooms, and being involved in the Fillmore United Methodist Church. After graduation, I received my Bachelors from SUNY Geneseo with dual certification in Special Education (Prek-12) and Elementary Education (Prek, K, 1-6). After starting a family and getting married, I continued on to obtain my Masters in Literacy Education (Prek-6) from Alfred University. I recently completed my degree in Educational Leadership through SUNY Stony Brook in May 2020 and have acquired Certificates for School Building Leadership and School District Leadership!!
I am in my eighteenth year of teaching in my own classroom, twenty years overall. I have a vast expanse of experience working with children from newborn ages in daycare and early intervention placements all the way through to adults with unique needs. Helping people has been a passion of mine since I was a little. Seeing the expression on one's face when they have mastered a task is AMAZING!
I currently live in the Fillmore area with my husband, Christopher, and our two sons, Caleb and Aiden. I am the Vice President of the PTO, a parent advocate, an avid supporter of the Tourette Syndrome Association and the Special Olympics, I am very involved in the school community, and I coach summer soccer for the eaglets and Modified Girls Basketball in the winter. Being involved in the community is a great way to see the students I work with learn and grow in all ways both inside the classroom and out!!! My goal this year is to EMPOWER others to see their strengths and find their passions, whatever those may be. Through working together, my hope is they can find their sense of wonderment and JOY that I have found in the last 26 years working with students, and the last 20 years I have been teaching at Fillmore!!!
