I've been in Fillmore Central School for 45 of my 53 years of life. I graduated from FCS in 1982, and after a brief hiatus to attend Houghton College (graduate 1986), I returned to my alma mater in 1987, and I've never left. Currently, in addition to my teaching in 10-12 English, I coach varsity soccer (28 years), and direct the annual high-school musical. "If you're bored, you're boring."
For each of my classes, I have a separate grading policy which I give out to my classes at the beginning of the year. For English 11 and Model English, we use wholistic grading of portfolios, and for College English I have a progressive grading procedure that allows for students to improve as the year goes on without having papers averaged (I place more value on improvement and growth, than average of papers.)
